The death toll in northeast Delhi communal violence over the amended citizenship law continued to rise on Thursday.

At least 28 people including two policemen have been killed and around 330 people have been injured in the riots.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal called for Army intervention on Wednesday saying the situation had become 'alarming' and police are 'unable to control it'.

On Wednesday night, a notification was passed by Centre which moved Justice Muralidhar, the Judge hearing Delhi violence case, to Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Breaking his silence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday made his first public statement about the ongoing riots and called for 'peace and brotherhood'.
